Shona Thirsk
Agility Instructor
Shona has been involved with dogs for over 20 years. It first started with
her late Boxer, Lance who received his CGC (Canine Good Citizen)
certificate and then went on to be a Certified Therapy Dog with both St
John's Ambulance and the Pet Therapy Society of Northern Alberta. They
visited hospitals in both Oshawa, ON and Edmonton, AB.

Shona and her husband Rick currently share their home with 2 Wire Fox
Terriers: Abbey and Owen, a red & white Border Collie, Baxter and a new
addition, Ripley, a black & white border collie.  While in Edmonton, Shona
discovered the sport of agility and started her training with Abbey under
the direction of Gayle Grant (Grand Paws owner/operator & AAC Nationals
Champ 2002). She actively competes with Abbey and Owen in AAC, CKC and
CPE agility trials, as well as with Baxter in AAC & CPE agility, Rally-O and
Dock Dogs.  Ripley will follow in his uncle Baxter's pawsteps :)

During her years in Edmonton, Shona attended workshops/seminars by Gayle
Grant, Sue Charlton (2006 Canadian Agility Team Member) and Anneli
Hilton. In the past year she has taken seminars with Terry Simon and Susan
Garrett to keep up-to-date and refine her skills.  She is currently being
coached by Sue Charlton of Edmonton via video & the internet.

Shona has been teaching agility classes since the summer of 2005. Many of
her students have been with her from Beginner and are now competing and
doing great in AAC. She thrives on seeing handlers and their dogs succeed in
learning and building as a team.
