TNT BAXTER
Baxter has also done some Rally-O and is 1 Q away from his Novice title.  Baxter loves
swimming (ok, lifeguarding!)!  Last year he tried his paw in Dock Diving and we hope to
get to a few more opportunities again this year...and maybe some longer jumps :)   He met
a few sheep and did get his Herding Instinct Test Certification and last winter Baxter
had the opportunity to try dog sledding with his mom Rio, Auntie Pipe and 1/2 brother
Fly.  He had a blast with breeder Tiffany driving.  This year we have purchased our own
sled and I can see this becoming a new dog sport in our life :)

Baxter's all time favorite dog sport is Agility.  He is a big boy but don't let his size
fool you, he is FAST!  Maybe too fast at times but I wouldn't have it any other way. I
am very proud of Baxter for accomplishing his Masters Gamble Dog of Canada (MGDC)
title, his Agility Dog of Canada (ADC) title and his Starters Game Dog of Canada
(SGDC) title in his first year of trialing.  Baxter and I spent 2007 training with Sue
Charlton of Edmonton using email/video review and some one-on-ones.  Baxter has also
attended seminars with many great agility instructors.  Currently we are working on the
Greg Derrett System and are seeing amazing progress in this boy.  We took most of
2008 off from trialing but are really looking forward to the 2009 season!
In the fall of 2006, Rick and Baxter attended a disc seminar with Pam Cassleman where
they worked on throwing & retrieval technique.  Rick and Baxter have been playing the
Disc Dog circuit since the winter of 2007, having a great time!  They are currently
competing in the Advanced Single disc division working on accumulating points after
earning Baxter's Retrieval Proficiency Test (RPT) Title, his Novice Single Disc (BDD)
Title and his Advanced Single Disc (ADD) Title  He also accumulated enough points to
earn his Disc Dog Champion (DDCh) Title in May 2008 as well as his Silver Award in
Furthest Throw with a personal best catch of 168'9".
Baxter has started training in flyball and has been said to have a nice 4 paw swimmers
turn.  He is lucky enough to have been invited to play on his sister Brie and mom Rio's
flyball team
Burnin' Rubber.   He did his first warm ups with the team at the 2008
Sharkfebst NAFA Flyball Tournament.  His second tournament was at Buffalo Wings
NAFA flyball tournament in Betavia, NY.  Baxter was able to complete some full runs
and earn his Flyball Dog (FD) Title.  Baxter took the rest of this year off from flyball
to concentrate on his agility training.  He is planning to start training again in 2009.
